Historic country estate on the north coast of Galicia
The houses' ground floor is somewhat elevated above ground level and one enters going up a staircase. It has a spacious reception room whose walls are lined with old family portraits, a formal living-room (to which guests have limited access), an ample dining room with a fireplace, a breakfast room, am old but fully equiped kitchen, a double bedroom, a single bedroom and a full bathroom with a shower.
On the second floor are a double bedroom, a single bedroom and another bathroom, while up a staircase next to the kitchen one arrives at a suite with a double bedroom with its own bathroom.
Around the house is a beautiful garden in different zones, with lawns and flower alleys, designed by well-known Spanish garden designer Isabel Casans Arteaga. Close to the house is a 16th Century chapel that guests can visit on request, and an old traditional grainery.
Not far from the house, within the formal garden, is the new and very luminous Pavilion, which has en enormous living room with different comfortable sitting areas, a dining area, a modern kitchen and a bathroom. It is the ideal setting for long lunches and dinners, and also for events for a maximum of 70 guests.
The manor house sits on a 200 hectare private property covered mostly by a thick forest of trees imported from different parts of the world.
Next to the property runs a stream with wooded banks through which one can follow a path all the way to the Pampillosa beach, a 4 km. walk.
The closest shops are in Foz at 8 km., and here one can also find all other services as well as a wide range of restaurants. The closest restaurant is on the Playa de Peizas, at 7 km.
Other attractive beaches in the area are Peizas, at 7 km., Llas at 8 km., Barreiros at 20 km., and especially the renowned beach of the Cathedrals, the Playa de las Catedrales, at 25 km. from the house.
The San Martín de Mondoñedo Basilica, at 10 km. from the house, is one of Galicia's most interesting late medieval buildings and is considered Spain's oldest cathedral, while highly valued for its beautiful frescos.
Other places of interest in the area is the old medieval town of Mondañedo, and the Ribadeo estuary, with the old town of Ribadeo and the village of Castropol being especially attractive.
